Velayudham, வேலாயுதம் - Kollywood Movie - Vijay Hansika Genelia

Velayudham, வேலாயுதம், is a 2011 Tamil action-masala film directed by M. Raja. It stars Vijay, Hansika Motwani and Genelia D'Souza. The film was formally launched on July 15, 2010 with its photo shoots taken earlier during the month. Produced by V. Ravichandran's Aascar Films, the film released on October 26, 2011. The story revolves around an ordinary milkman, trying to eradicate corruption. The film released to mixed reviews and was declared a commercial success.

Velu (Vijay) is a Village guy who stays with his widowed mother, a beautiful sister Kaveri(Saranya Mohan) and a cute Murai Ponnu Vaidhiyalakshmi(Hansikha). Due to his Sister marriage, Vijay will come to chennai to receive the amount he saved in a chit fund company. There he will meet Genelia who is a Journalist.

Genelia was earlier harassed by the misdeeds of Villain Abhimanyu Singh. He is the most influential person in the city who is an underworld mafia don. One fine day Genelia will see the accident where bunch of goons will die. She will use this incident and she creates a fictional char 'Velayutham'. When Vijay visits chennai there will be few bomb blasting incidents and he avoids all the bomb blasts without his knowledge. So people start to think that he is Velayutham.

Genelia will meet vijay & tells him about the ficitional character & Villain. Earlier, Vijay will refuse to continue the fictional charcater but later he comes to know that he is cheated by the chit fund company which runs by the villain & few common people committs suicide due to this forgery, so now our hero will wear the mask of Velayutham to stop the corruption in the city. And rest of the film speaks about how Vijay takes over villain and his gang.

Urumi Malayalam Film by Santhosh Sivan

Urumi, the latest Malayalam film starring Prithviraj, is a historical mythological film, where everything is woven together seamlessly by scriptwriter Shankar Ramakrishnan and visualised and directed by Santhosh Sivan. Santosh has made it like how a period drama should be made without too much talk about freedom struggle, no bombastic dialogues or playing to the gallery for heroism. His vision and concept gives this epic the feel of a Brave Heart or Gladiator.

When he reaches the venue, he is made aware of his heritage. Thus we go back to the 15th century and the story of Chirakkal Kelu Nayanar, the youngster who had vowed to eliminate Vasco da Gama and free his land of foreign occupation.

There are elements that are typical of a historical story; let it be secularist ideals or the 'unity in diversity' utopia aspired for. But they are not overplayed to hinder the flow of narrative in any way. The dialogues have minimal jingoism and are crisp. The only grouse we can have at the script level is the fact that some characters are underdeveloped or left in a lurch, especially Vidya Balan's much-hyped cameo and item song. Or did the editor Sreekar Prasad prune it to manage reel time better?
