Punyalan Agarbathis, പുണ്യാളന്‍ അഗര്‍ബത്തീസ്, is a 2013 Malayalam comedy drama film written and directed by Ranjith Sankar, starring Jayasurya, Nyla Usha, Aju Varghese, and Rachana Narayanankutty. The film is produced by Jayasurya and Ranjith Sankar under the banner of Dreams N Beyond and features music composed by Bijibal, whilst cinematography is handled by Sujith Vasudev and is edited by Lijo Paul.

 'പുണ്യാളന്‍ അഗര്‍ബത്തീസ്' എന്ന പുതിയ ചിത്രത്തിലും രഞ്ജിത്ത് ശങ്കര്‍ മുന്നോട്ടുവെക്കുന്നത് സമൂഹത്തെ ബാധിക്കുന്ന ചില കാര്യങ്ങളെ പറ്റിയുള്ള ചിന്തകളാണ്. മലയാള സിനിമയ്ക്കത് പുതിയ വിഷയമൊന്നുമല്ലെങ്കിലും തന്റേതായ, വ്യത്യസ്തമായ ഒരു ശൈലിയില്‍ അവതരിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ ഈ സംവിധായകന് സാധിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

Jayasurya had always been the topper for first list of actors to play the role of a married young man from Thrissur for the director and was initially casted. Nyla Usha a Dubai based Radio Jockey who had recently completed the shooting of her debut film Kunjananthante Kada, at the time which was directed by National award winning filmmaker Salim Ahmad. She was casting to play a role of a modern wife, who works in the Telecom sector.

 

Other cast in the film includes Rachana Narayanankutty who was famous for her role in the sitcom Marimayam and also appearing in films such as Amen, Aju Varghese who has been the rising young comedian was casting to play another type cast role, T.G. Ravi also was casted to play an important role and the others who were casted were Mala Aravindan, Sunil Sukhada, Edavela Babu and Shivaji Guruvayur. The popular senior actor Innocent was casted to play the hero's grandfather. Innocent plays one of the two characters that influence the hero and which his grandfather is one among them. This film was a comeback film for the actor who had been fighting cancer and therefor not being in films for a while.

 

Joy's new business venture 'Punyalan Agarbattis' proposes manufacturing 'Agarbattis' from Elephant Dung. He has successfully tried it with good results. Fragrance and quality of Agarbattis have pleased those who tried the samples. Joy thinks it's usp is good mosquito repellant capabilities. 

Having embarked on his journey, Joy faces the biggest challenge in terms of Raw Material i.e. Elephant Dung. His best friend and right hand man in the struggle is Greenu Sharma, who sees Joy as his hero and truly believes that Joy is just a turn away from success. Their camaraderie and friendship is a guiding force when all the chips are down..

The filming began at Thrissur at August 17, 2013. The director of photography was Sujith Vasudev, who had previously done Ranjith Sankar's Molly Aunty Rocks. It was released on 29 Nov 2013 all over Kerala and other States.

Ranjith Sankar who had recently announced two projects Sudhi Valmeekam with Prithviraj Sukumaran and May Flower, has given the announcement that these films will take place in 2014. Director and producer Ranjith Sankar had also announced that his next directorial Malayalam movie will be titled Punyalan Agarbattis, which will have Jayasurya in the lead character who also will co produce the film. He had also said it was expected to go on the floor by August month at the location of Thrissur.

Punyalan Agarbathis was never even in the director's list of immediate project. After the script came to play the director had decided going back to Thrissur which also has always been his greatest source of strength all these years. It was also decided after discussing projects with actor Jayasurya to be part of the previously announced project Mayflower, to become the lead and with him favoring the project so much he decided to co-produce the film along with the director.

Distribution was decided to be done by Central Pictures. The screenplay is jointly done by the director himself and new comers Anil Kurian and Abhayakumar. Anil Kurian had earlier associated with Ranjith Sankar for Molly Aunty Rocks as the Project Designer.

Kamasutra 3D by director Rupesh Paul is based on Vatsyayana's famous creation of Kamasutra. Set in the backdrop of the ancient, Kamasutra 3D is about the journey of a beautiful Indian Princess, who sets sail in the search of her husband. In her voyage, she undergoes through the transformations in her body, mind and soul with a fellow passenger who takes her by the forbidden world of sexual love and sensuality.

Kamasutra 3D has graced the 66th Cannes International Film Festival with its actress and the director. The film has successfully launched the book of Kamasutra for all the Cannes delegates and also its second exclusive trailer, which earned the team overwhelming kudos from the International platform. The name of the male lead, King Mal Khan, was revealed at the 66th Cannes International Film Festival.

The movie was announced at Cannes Film Festival 2012, by Rupesh Paul- the director of the movie, after the premiere of his Hollywood movie, Saint Dracula 3D, at the festival. Kamasutra 3D first look was revealed on November 7, 2012. The first look of Kamasutra 3D, was unveiled at NFDC's film bazaar on November 22, 2012 which is being held on the sidelines of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2012 in Goa. The Kamasutra 3D — Photo Shoot Video with Sherlyn Chopra was revealed on 19 January 2013. Kamasutra 3d will be released in May 2014. Sapan Narula is the cinematographer. The movie would be edited by Kishore Te. The Sound Mixing (Auro 3D) would be done by Fazal A Backer. It is an Indo-US co-production initiative.

Director of Kamasutra 3D, Rupesh Paul, decided to replace Sherlyn Chopra, after Chopra left him miffed by uploading a video clip of the photo shoot of the film on her YouTube channel without seeking his permission. He was very upset with Chopra's unprofessionalism and decided to replace her with Hollywood stars Eva Longoria or Mila Kunis.[14] Though Sherlyn Chopra has reportedly patched up with director Rupesh Paul and after her apology to Mr. Paul with a writing, stating that she will not say or write anything about the film without the consent of the producers.
The movie will be released in both the Hindi and in English language. While the movie length will be of 100 minutes for the international version, 120 minutes will it be for the Indian version. Sagar Thackar, the film official, told IANS: "The budget of 'Kamasutra 3D' is 3.5 Million US dollars. The first teaser of the movie has been uploaded on YouTube which grabbed the eye-ball of millions of viewers and is still counting.

 The movie is in its shooting process in the locales of India. The cast includes actors from both the English and the Indian film industry. The movie has been registered with the Motion Picture Association of America as well as the Writers Guild of America.

Kamasutra 3D will have Markus Lanxinger, to master the 3D stereoscopy for the film. Kamasutra 3D makes a 7th mark on cinema with the use of Auro 3D sound mixing, after Viswaroopam being the first in Hindi to use Auro 3D in some its trailer and soundtrack. Oz the Great and Powerful and The Croods has been released with the Auro 3D sound technology this year, so far. Choreographer Saroj Khan and Master Shiva Shankar has been mastering the dance moves for the film.

 Fashion designer Neeta Lulla has been roped to design the ensembles for the movie. The stunt director, M S Micheal Raj and the best stunt choreographer from Thailand, Kecha Khamphakdee choreographed the stunt sequences.
