Velayudham, வேலாயுதம், is a 2011 Tamil action-masala film directed by M. Raja. It stars Vijay, Hansika Motwani and Genelia D'Souza. The film was formally launched on July 15, 2010 with its photo shoots taken earlier during the month. Produced by V. Ravichandran's Aascar Films, the film released on October 26, 2011. The story revolves around an ordinary milkman, trying to eradicate corruption. The film released to mixed reviews and was declared a commercial success.

Velu (Vijay) is a Village guy who stays with his widowed mother, a beautiful sister Kaveri(Saranya Mohan) and a cute Murai Ponnu Vaidhiyalakshmi(Hansikha). Due to his Sister marriage, Vijay will come to chennai to receive the amount he saved in a chit fund company. There he will meet Genelia who is a Journalist.

Genelia was earlier harassed by the misdeeds of Villain Abhimanyu Singh. He is the most influential person in the city who is an underworld mafia don. One fine day Genelia will see the accident where bunch of goons will die. She will use this incident and she creates a fictional char 'Velayutham'. When Vijay visits chennai there will be few bomb blasting incidents and he avoids all the bomb blasts without his knowledge. So people start to think that he is Velayutham.

Genelia will meet vijay & tells him about the ficitional character & Villain. Earlier, Vijay will refuse to continue the fictional charcater but later he comes to know that he is cheated by the chit fund company which runs by the villain & few common people committs suicide due to this forgery, so now our hero will wear the mask of Velayutham to stop the corruption in the city. And rest of the film speaks about how Vijay takes over villain and his gang.

The action adventure film Immortals will be releasing on 11.11.11. It was directed by Tarsem Singh and actor Freida Pinto. The film also stars Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz, Joseph Morgan, Stephen Dorff, Alan Van Sprang, Isabel Lucas, and John Hurt. The film was previously named Dawn of War and War of the Gods before being officially named Immortals, and is loosely based on the Greek myths of Theseus and the Minotaur and the Titanomachy. It is set to be released in 2D and in 3-D (using the Real D 3D and Digital 3D formats) on November 11, 2011 by Universal Pictures and Relativity Media.

Years after the Titanomachy, the Titan Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) declares war on humanity. He searches for the Epirus Bow, a legendary weapon created by the war god Ares (Daniel Sharman), which will allow him to free the rest of the Titans from Tartarus and take revenge on the Olympians who brought about their downfall. In accordance with ancient laws, the gods are unable to take a side in the war between Hyperion and humanity. It is left to Theseus (Henry Cavill), son of Poseidon (Kellan Lutz) chosen by Zeus (Luke Evans) and accompanied by the priestess Phaedra (Freida Pinto) and a slave named Stavros (Stephen Dorff), to protect his homeland and save the gods.

Immortals narrate the story of a heroic battle between gods and mortals. It is also the story of a brutal and bloodthirsty King Hyperion (Oscar-nominated Mickey Rourke) and his murderous army rampaging across Greece searching for the long lost Bow of Epirus. With the invincible Bow, he could overthrow the Gods of Olympus and become the undisputed master of his world.

The $75 million Immortals, an average budget for a Hollywood film, is in 3D and comes from the same producers who scored a surprise hit with their historical yarn 300 a few years ago, earning $460 million worldwide.

In immortals, the idea of turning the stories from Greek mythology into a fast-moving, dark and emotionally compelling film that could resonate with the viewers across the globe was adopted by Tarsem.

People worldwide will see the film as one man's journey from a non-believer to a believer, Tarsem says, and will also watch how the Gods have to take certain decisions that go against their conventional wisdom.

Those who have watched the film's advertisement, preview shots and read a lot about it, know it is anything but a staid classical story-telling. 'It's in your face,' says Canton. 'We're not playing it safe. History is not safe. Mythology is not safe. And we're really not interested in safe.'
This movie incorporates classical Greek myths filmed using 3D technology, necessitating extensive post production. Director Tarsem Singh said that he is planning an action movie using Renaissance painting styles. He then goes on to say that he is "Basically, Caravaggio meets Fight Club. It's a really hardcore action film done in Renaissance painting style. I want to see how that goes; it's turned into something really cool. I'm going for a very contemporary look on top of that so I'm kind of going with, you know, Renaissance time with electricity. So it's a bit like Baz Luhrman doing Romeo + Juliet in Mexico; it's just taking a particular Greek tale and half (make it contemporary) and telling it."

Yash Raj, Ali Zaffar, Imran Khan & Katrina Kaif - now that's a pair that can drag audiences into cinema halls. MBKD is a brave attempt to compete with a tornado flowing these days named 'BodyGuard'. So, just to change the taste from Action to comedy, MBKD works for a big time. Imran Khan, the most successful teen in B'Town, Katrina, the most successful popular actress and Ali Zaffar, the heartthrob of many gals. MBKD is the biggest surprise that can come with three crackers. Also, the super-successful music is also there. What does one want more?

MBKD is a rom-com based on a new tragedy as it claims itself in teasers. And, so it is. We have seen this type of story in Onir's SORRY BHAI or MY BROTHER'S WIFE (or A BEAUTIFUL WIFE). But MKBD is totally different from them. It's entertaining, funny, clumsy & is filled with strong performances.

Kush Agnihotri (Imran Khan) is looking for the ideal Indian bride for his brother Luv Agnihotri (Ali Zafar), who stays in London. In his quest, Kush goes through an array of wacky encounters with several families until he finally finds that perfect girl in Dimple Dixit (D)(Katrina Kaif), the craziest / wackiest girl he has ever known.

Both the families meet. Formalities are completed. Preparations proceed in full swing. And just then Kush falls in love with Dimple... his brother's dulhan. Dimple is also in love with him. How can their love overcome in this society? That's when a wacky plot with wacky incidents take place.

MBKD deals with a very heavy plot in a funny and light manner and changes the whole mood where a calamity is occurring. Director Ali Abbas Zafar has a dream debut fulfilled by this. His smart direction and handling every scene with good humor shows that he's different from most other directors debuting nowadays.

Imran Khan does a commendable job this time also. Unlike Delhi Belly, Imran achieves such a role this time that has been focused on him entirely. And also he lives with it more than good. Some people call it 'Reserved' and some call 'Fattu' Imran had to do work in such a role and does it bloody good. The dulhan herself, Katrina Kaif was gorgeous and pretty and a powerhouse entertainer this time. But she still needs to work on her Hindi and acting skills. Ali Zaffar was a joy to watch. A dashing, handsome, wild, cool & aggressive player, just opposite to his brother's nature. Ali Zaffar had delivered a far better performance this time than 'Tere Bin Laden' by giving some giggles. Kanwaljeet Singh as Dimple's Daddy & Parikshat Sahni as Colonel Agnihotri (Luv & Kush's Dad) were tremendous. Imran's friends were cool. Debutant Tara D' Souza (as Piyali) was fine. The man who acted a s Dimple's brother gave a bad performance trying to imitate SRK from My Name Is Khan.

Music by Sohail Sen was the major plus point of this movie. Every song was situational (after a long period) and vibrant and excellent. Background Score worked fine too. Next comes screenplay which somehow covers up the flaws and immaturity of the script. A cool and pacy script, we can say. Cinematography by Sudeep Chatterjee, which mostly covered Agra & Taj was fine. Costumes were fabulous. Editing could have been much better.

Allover, MBKD tries to be something different in clichéd rom-com movies but for a so-so plot and some clumsy moments, it stays afloat. Forget beating Bodyguard's records, it is somehow a nearly good competition to it. But some funny moments, Imran Khan & a spectacular music score make Mere Brother Ki Dulhan far better than most other movies of this type came in this year. It's lightening, joyful, honest & a bit introvert. So, just go to theaters, pop up the corns and forget stress and tension.

There are elements that are typical of a historical story; let it be secularist ideals or the 'unity in diversity' utopia aspired for. But they are not overplayed to hinder the flow of narrative in any way. The dialogues have minimal jingoism and are crisp. The only grouse we can have at the script level is the fact that some characters are underdeveloped or left in a lurch, especially Vidya Balan's much-hyped cameo and item song. Or did the editor Sreekar Prasad prune it to manage reel time better?

Director Kathryn Bigelow has become the first woman in the 82-year history of the Oscars to win the Hollywood's top prize for filmmakers.

The other movies which were in the race to win the Oscar Award for the Best Picture are ‘Avatar,’ ‘The Blind Side,’ ‘District 9,’ ‘An Education,’ ‘Inglorious Bastards,’ ‘Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire,’ ‘A Serious Man,’ ‘Up,’ and ‘Up In The Air.’

Also, for the first time in the history of the Academy Awards, 10 films were nominated for the award for Best Movie in order to provide wider choice to the jury to judge.

The Hurt Locker is a 2008 American war film. It follows a United States Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team during the Iraq War.

The film was directed by Kathryn Bigelow. The screenplay was written by Mark Boal, a freelance writer who was embedded as a journalist in 2004 with a US bomb squad in Iraq. It stars Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, and Brian Geraghty as members of a U.S. Army EOD unit in Iraq and follows their tour together as they contend with defusing bombs, the threat of insurgency, and the tension that develops among them. The film was shot in Jordan, within miles of the Iraq border.

It was first released theatrically in Italy in 2008, when it premiered at the Venice Film Festival. After being shown at the Toronto International Film Festival in North America, it was picked up for distribution in the United States by Summit Entertainment. It was released in the United States on June 26, 2009, in New York and Los Angeles. Based on the success of its limited run, the independent film received a more widespread theatrical release in the United States on July 24, 2009. Now, after four years of production, AVATAR, a live action film with a new generation of special effects, delivers a fully immersive cinematic experience of a new kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story.

Avatar is a 2009 American science fiction epic film written and directed by James Cameron and starring Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez and Stephen Lang. The film is set in the year 2154, when humans are mining a precious mineral called unobtanium on Pandora, a lush moon of a gas giant in the Alpha Centauri star system. The expansion of the mining colony threatens the continued existence of a local tribe of Na'vi — a sentient humanoid species indigenous to Pandora. The film's title refers to the genetically engineered Na'vi and human hybrid bodies used by several human characters to interact with the natives of Pandora.

Development on Avatar began in 1994, when Cameron wrote an 80-page scriptment for the film. Are you happy to be back home?

I have always said, I am a Mumbaichi mulgi and will remain the same. As far as coming to Mumbai is concerned, it's always a delight. I have been visiting the city regularly. It's just that I was not interacting with the media or giving any interviews. It's strange, people think if I am not giving interviews I am not visiting home (laughs).

How does it feel to working after a five-year break?

Oh, it was wonderful. Initially, I was a bit apprehensive on the first day, but once I was on the sets, it was fine. I was feeling a little rusty, but after shooting for two hours, I was back in form again.

Are you apprehensive about the fact that you don't have a male lead in Aaja Nachle?

I am not nervous at all. I think the story is unique and people will appreciate my performance. We must think positive.

It seems that you agreed to take up this film because you get to play a dancer. How far is it true?

Bingo! You would have won a jackpot if this had been the question. (Giggles) Jokes apart, I think you are correct. I play Diya in Aaja Nachle, an extremely strong and independent woman. She runs away from home with her boyfriend to New York. There she realises that the person she ran away with has changed. She is a choreographer by profession. When she returns, she finds people have changed. It’s the way she fights all odds that makes Divya so special.

You look the same Madhuri Dixit even after five years. Tell us about your look in the film?

I am playing the woman who has spent 10 years abroad. She is a choreographer who struggles in a man's world kind of a thing. She's not delicate so she has to look her part throughout the movie. I think that was the biggest challenge for Manish Malhotra to match my look with the character.

So how do your kids react when they see their mom's posters all over?

I think Yashraj has gone all out to promote the film, and that's the best part about working with a prestigious production house, which takes care of everything. Whenever my kids would travel with me, they would see the poster and scream, "Mom that's you!" This time I didn't get them with me, because they have their classes.

Do you cook for your kids?

Yes, I do that often. In fact, I enjoy making food for them. My kids love dosas, and most of the time I try and make different kinds of dosas. They also love the typical Marathi varan bhaat and in Punjabi cuisine they love chicken tikka. So, I make sure they taste all kinds of food. By the way, Chinese cuisine is something which everyone in our family loves!

Rajeev Masand: You've been a cine freak all your life, so did you attend a lot of film festivals when you were in Delhi and when you were training to be an actor, during your growing up days?

Shah Rukh Khan: Yes, earlier in Delhi, there used to be a lot of international festivals and they used to be competitive. But I never attended as an invited guest. I used to be one of the ushers. The theatre groups used to give us between Rs 50 and Rs 100 for ushering people inside. This is the first time I have been invited to a film festival.

Rajeev Masand: Very few people know that your latest film, Om Shanti Om has been invited by the Berlin Film Festival. Are you going there in February?

Shah Rukh Khan: I don't have the details but yes, that is what our international film distributor said, that we have been invited.

Rajeev Masand: It's really interesting that a film festival like Berlin, which is meant to be a serious film festival, has invited a film that really celebrates the glory of mainstream masala film making. So is that sort of an indication that Bollywood is becoming immensely popular?

Shah Rukh Khan: Well, I think Om Shanti Om is a seriously funny film so there is a part seriousness there and so I think its okay to go to the Berlin Film Festival and showcase a film like it.

Rajeev Masand: The UK paper, The Eastern Eye, has voted you the sexiest Asian alive. Give me a final word on this.

Shah Rukh Khan: As hard as I am trying to be the chief guest of an international film festival and be serious, you declare me the sexiest Asian and make me look rather flippant again. Just when I thought I could be an actor, you've taken my chance of roles in serious cinema away again. I don't think it's amusing. I get very shy and embarrassed when someone calls me sexy.

Joshy's new film Nasraani was much in the news for the specialty of its lead, which had Kavya Madhavan playing the female lead for the first time opposite Mammootty. The latest news is that Kavya has backed out from doing the film.

The presence of a strong second heroine seems to be the reason for Kavya for not doing the film. No one has suggested earlier about the presence of another heroine in the film. But now after the pooja, Ranjitheettan made clear about my role in the film which has less prominence compared to the other female character.

"I had done these types of characters many times before. I prefer to share the lead with Mammootty in a more important role, next time. That's why I thought it better not to become a part of the film. I have even given back the advance, that I had for the film", said Kavya about the new developments.

Dileep start his own film soon

Dileep is an good actor. To start with the Vinodayatara which is doing good business. Then there is his film July 4th by Joshy which releases on July 4th. The film has Roma and Mangala starring opposite him. After that he is doing a Blessy film that will be shot at Kolkota in which heroine is Meera Jasmine.

Then there is signed Mulla by Lal Jose, starring Gopika in the female lead. Lal Creations has signed him for a film with script penned by Rafi Mecartin, to be directed by Rajasenan. He has also signed a film by Jose Thomas and Sibi-Udayan team. Soon after completing all these films, he intends to start his film with Sandhya Mohan.

Dileeps says "I didn't even dream of such a success. God is working so many iracles". Watching Movies is the Dileep's favourite hobby. He never selects the movies to watch and is interested in all types and languages of films. However comedy and action movies are his favourites.

Chotta Mumbai, directed by Anwar Rasheed with Mohanlal and Bhavana in the lead roles, opened to packed houses. With all ingredients of a mass entertainer, this movie laced with humour stars Siddique and Jagathy in prominent roles. The movie witnessed unprecedented crowds in theatres. Mohanlal has made a right beginning this year with Chotta Mumbai. Despite in wafer thin plot which is a letdown is definitely, the film manages to grip your heart with its no melodramatic content and rave performances from the lead. Landing on a mass formula movie, director Anwar Rasheed has steered the flick with clear dictation overpowering even the star equations. Truly a director's film, which make you just sit back, relax and enjoy, rather than searching for its logic. The story set in the Fort Kochi-Mattancherry area tells about a few happy go-lucky guys from the Chotta Mumbai Street who is into anything for making money.
